TAMPA (FOX 13) – Lightning may have sparked Tampa apartment fire.
A lightning strike during the midday storms may be what sparked a fire at the University
Club Apartments on Wednesday. According to a Hillsborough County fire official, someone reported the fire just before noon. The caller said smoke and flames were coming from one of the buildings
just after a strike of lightning hit the roof. Fire rescue crews arrived and got straight to work, tackling the flames from both the exterior and the interior of the building
. Firefighters had to pull ceilings down in some of the units as they searched for extension flames. They said the building houses
a total of eight apartments, but have not yet stated how many were damaged.
