HELPFUL TIP: Do not buy a fire extinguisher that has a gauge on it that states……. “Discard after use”. These type of fire extinguishers are non refillable and increase your maintenance cost.
Every 12 months a fire extinguisher needs to be physically inspected by a trained and licensed professional. The extinguisher shall be inspected for corrosion, dents, legible information on manufacturers label, proper weight and proper pressure and then wiped down completely.
The Fire extinguisher hose should be removed from shell and blown out to ensure there is no blockage in hose. A certification tag will then be affixed to fire extinguisher which will sate the Company’s name & contact info, technicians name, permit and license number. The type of service performed and the month and year service was performed must be punched out.
Certification tag is good for 1 year from date that tag was punched out.
Every 6 years from the manufacturer's date or from the last recharge that was performed, each
fire extinguisher
must be torn down and rebuilt to meet the manufacturer's requirements. Once service has been performed, a neck collar would be placed below the handle stating the service performed and the service company that provided said service. The month and year must be punched out of the neck collar. On the back side of the
extinguisher, the service company must provide a decal that if removed will say “VOID”. The decal must-have service company’s information and must have the month and the year service was performed. The extinguisher
is now good for another 6 years or until it
has been discharged, in a fire, or is required for a hydrotest.
Every 12 years from the manufacturer's date; or from the last hydro test date serviced, all fire extinguishers must be tested to manufacturers specs to ensure the safety and the integrity of the shell. Fire extinguisher will be torn down completely and will have the inside of the shell inspected for corrosion. Shell will then be filled with water and placed on hydrotest machine which will then place fire extinguisher under pressure required by manufacturers requirements.
Usually, it is 3x the normal pressure allowed for the said shell. If the shell does not expand or burst, the shell will then be dried out, refilled, and pressurized per the manufacturers' requirements. The service technician will then place said decals showing that service was performed on the said shell.
We usually recommend that fire extinguishers be replaced when the unit reaches this point. In most cases, it is more cost-effective.

Fire extinguishers have to be located in specific places within a building based on size and location of potential fire hazards. The
NFPA has strict guidelines for how much distance an extinguisher can be from any given point. Sometimes it can be difficult to put extinguishers where they are required. Fortunately, fire extinguisher mounting brackets can help. Brackets give you the flexibility to place your fire extinguishers exactly where they will be most effective at protecting lives and property from fire hazards.

Fire safety signage is a critical part of maintaining a safe environment for your employees, customers, visitors, and/or residents.
Fire safety signs are important because they help occupants respond to fires quickly and keep people safe. All of our signs have standard text, symbols, and colors recognized immediately as fire safety signs. They mark the locations of fire extinguishers, hoses, sprinklers, and exits so people can respond appropriately or evacuate.
Fire safety signs are required by law in many states and municipalities. To learn more about compliance and fire safety signage,
